Turkish ROCK star Ferman Akgül sells his recording rights to Indie music rights LTD and becomes company advisor
Indie Music Rights, an emerging player in music rights acquisition, is proud to announce a very exciting deal with Ferman Akgül, a turkish rock star, and lead singer in the hugely popular rock band maNga. A very successful band touring extensively in Türkiye and Europe including winning the MTV Europe Music Awards for Best European Act in 2009 an also achieved a 2nd place in the Eurovision Song Contest finals of 2010.
We have acquired the master rights of Ferman’s solo albums and singles.
Ferman and his wife, Bettina Kuperman, have also joined as advisors for Indie Music Rights.
This is Indie Music Right’s first step in expanding its focus to Türkiye, Middle East and new markets like Azerbaijan.
The acquisition of these rights is another part of Indie music right's ongoing mission
to unlock the potential of non-English music catalogs.
Acquiring these extraordinary masters not only enhances Indie music right’s portfolio
but also represents a stable, high-growth investment opportunity for stakeholders.
Music rights, much like real estate, offer predictable revenue streams, complemented by fewer management complexities and higher yields.
Indie Music Right’s proven business model capitalizes on the demand for independent music, providing diversified, recurring revenue from royalties, sync licensing, and new digital opportunities.
“With non-English music streams exploding to 43.6% globally, indie music rights is riding this wave and investing in the future. Our acquisition of Ferman Akgül's catalog demonstrates our commitment to this rapidly expanding market.”
- Pål Sigvaldsen, Chief Commercial Officer indie music rights LTD
By acquiring the rights to this great catalog, Indie music rights continues its strategy of empowering rights owners
while preserving cultural heritage through effective distribution and creative revitalization.
Ferman’s music will now be positioned for broader recognition across international markets, and his back catalog
will be worked with in a professional manner ensuring better market insight and better positioning
for music placement in TV, film and commercials.
Ferman has currently almost 400 000 monthly listeners on his solo album and singles, and we are thankful and humble to be allowed to take over the ownership and handling of this legacy.
Opening up new markets
This acquisition signifies Indie music right's first move outside northern Europe. While the company's roots are in Norway,
the turkish market presents a very exciting opportunity to support independent artists and their legacies.
A Partnership That Retains Artist Involvement
As with all Indie music rights acquisitions, the company is committed to preserving a close relationship with the artists.
In this case Ferman Akgül will take on an advisory role within Indie music rights, ensuring the continued respect for his artistic vision as the catalog is revitalized. "We love the Indie music rights model, and believe there is a very good market for this company to build an artist friendly and financially attractive alternative for established artists and record labels" says Ferman.
"We are really looking forward to present this model to other artists in Türkiye and neighboring markets we work in”
Expanding the indie music rights Portfolio :
A New Home for Independent Rights Music
Indie music is actively building its portfolio, focusing on non-English music catalogs
that have been historically overlooked by larger music funds. The acquisition of Ferman’s albums aligns with the company’s strategy
to capitalize on the growing demand for global and local music genres.
This approach sets us apart from larger music investment firms, which tend to focus on mainstream, global hits.
Indie music focus is on niche markets with a local yet globalized approach—identifying valuable cultural music that can reach new heights through strategic re-releases, sync placements, and effective royalty management.
